The dead toll from blasts in western Kabul has risen to 20, according to 1TV News, citing sources. Earlier in the day, a local source informed Sputnik that an explosion happened at the Abdul Rahim Shahid High School in the capital's Dasht-e-Barchi area, killing six people and injuring scores, according to ANI.

According to Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran and the city's Emergency Hospital, the explosions injured numerous youngsters and additional casualties were expected.

The blasts happened near Abdul Rahim Shaheed High School and inside an education institution where examinations were being held in Kabul's Dasht-e-Barchi area.

The chief of a hospital nursing department, who did not want to be identified, claimed at least six people were killed and 14 were injured in the explosions.

No one has claimed responsibility right away. The area has already been targeted by Afghanistan's lethal Islamic State offshoot, which regards Shiite Muslims as heretics.
