The New York Times faced backlash for initially labeling the violence against hindus as "revenge attacks" before changing its headline.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based news outlet with a Muslim-oriented perspective, minimizing the violence against Hindus, by saying it as "Islamophobic", with some accusing it of promoting Indian propaganda.

Amid the chaos, India has evacuated non-essential staff from its embassy in Bangladesh.
