On Monday, the Taliban in Afghanistan prohibited beardless government personnel from entering their offices.

According to The Khaama Press, agents of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice halted staff members of the Ministry of Finance at the entrance because they were beardless.

Employees were only permitted to enter the ministry after wearing the caps that the Taliban leaders advised.

Meanwhile, according to The Khaama Press, the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice denied that government personnel were halted at the entrance.

The staff employees of the Finance Ministry were halted for instruction and advice by officials of the Ministry of Virtue and Vice, according to Ministry spokesperson Muhammad Sadiq Akif.

"All government bodies were instructed not to allow women without hijab and male employees of government administrations to fit their appearance in accordance with Sharia law," Akif stated.

Even pro-Taliban leaders have criticised the move, claiming that Islam has never forced individuals to grow beards.

Following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan last August, Afghans, particularly women, have been subjected to a slew of restrictions.

The Taliban's Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice has previously distributed posters in Kabul instructing Afghan women to cover up.

In the meantime, the Taliban's re-accession to power in Afghanistan has turned into a nightmare for Afghan women. Women have been subjected to a slew of restrictive laws, including bans on education, labour, and long-distance travel.

Following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, acts of threatening women have become the 'new normal.'

In Afghanistan, the Taliban have made it illegal for hairdressers to shave or trim beards.

Repressive rules and regulations are being re-imposed by the organisation. They are enacting rules that characterise their reign from 1996 to 2001, when they implemented their form of Islamic Sharia law.
