The first trailer for Thalapathy Vijay's Beast spread like wildfire on the internet. The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is set to enter theatres this month, but the buzz around Vijay's involvement in it appeared implausible on social media and in the real world.

Thousands of fans set up large screens on the road in Tamil Nadu and organised special trailer screenings in theatres to commemorate Vijay's new film.

Beast casts the celebrity as a superspy, a ruthless guy who would kill everyone who is in his way of his mission. As shown in the teaser, a squad of terrorists takes over a mall over the Christmas season and keeps tourists hostage.

When the intelligence and authority begin to devise a strategy, they are notified that their own soldier is among the captives inside the mall. Vijay's character, spy Veera Raghavan, is introduced as a "lean and nasty" person who is fearless in the face of danger.

He is shown as having battled the whole army in the Middle East, with a variety of weaponry ranging from rifles to fighter aircraft.

Following the introduction, Vijay is shown cutting up a few terrorists at the mall with a knife and making a solid heroic debut amid the throng, where Pooja Hegde is also surprised.
