Two Muslims killed a Hindu shopkeeper in Udaipur over social media post on Nupur Sharma

On Tuesday, a shopkeeper was beheaded in broad daylight in Udaipur, escalating tensions in the city. Kanhaiya Lal, the shopkeeper, was murdered by two Muslims who cut off his head and later admitted to murdering the man over a social media post in favour of Nupur Sharma.

Same day night, the two suspects were apprehended in the Rajsamand district's Bheem area. The accused were apprehended while attempting to flee.

News reports says that the murder occurred in response to a Social Media post made by the shopkeeper's eight-year-old son in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party politician Nupur Sharma. Other reports just says that the post was shared on the shopkeeper's social media account. Nupur Sharma was recently in the spotlight for making divisive remarks regarding Muhammad.

A video surfaced on social media of two Muslims entering a tailor's business in Udaipur and attacking him with knives. In a another video, the two guys are heard confessing to the murder and threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a third video, shot on June 17, and released shortly after the murder on Tuesday, one of the two guys is heard detailing his plans to carry out an act identical to what happened in Udaipur on Tuesday.

The murder of tailor has heightened tensions in Udaipur. Large gatherings have been prohibited in Rajasthan, and internet access has been blocked for 24 hours. Gos Mohammad and Riyaz, the assailants shown on tape, have been apprehended.
