MALAPPURAM: A passenger who tried to smuggle gold worth more than Rs 5crore in the form of a capsule in the rectum was nabbed by the police outside the Karipur airport. 

Today 19-09-2022, the police foiled an attempt to smuggle more than one kg of gold. A passenger has also been arrested in connection with the incident. 

The arrested has been identified as Noufal P (36), a native of Warangode in Malappuram, who arrived at karipur airport from Dubai. 

He tried to smuggle 1.065 kg of gold in the form of a capsule inside the anus by hiding it in a mixed form. The seized gold is valued at Rs 54 lakh in the domestic market.

Naufal was taken to a private hospital in Kondoti and underwent a detailed medical examination. X-rays revealed four capsules containing gold inside his stomach.

Noufal P, broke the record of Umar Farooq who smuggles 1.017 kilogram of gold in his anus.

This is the 59th gold smuggling case caught by the police at the Karipur airport in the last few months.
