60-year-old Muhammad sentenced to 88 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting 9-year-old girl
Kasaragod: A 60-year-old man has been sentenced to 88 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7 lakh for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl on several occasions. Kasargod District Additional Sessions Court (I) Judge A Manoj convicted Mohammad (60), a native of Chamathadukka in Delambadi, under various POCSO sections.
If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional seven years in jail.
On August 14, 2019 and several days before that, Muhammed took the child to an isolated plot near his house and sexually abused her.
The court examined 10 witnesses in the case. The prosecution produced about 15 documents.
It was the then Adoor inspector K Premsadan who arrested the accused in the case registered by the Adoor police and filed the charge sheet in the court. Special Public Prosecutor Prakash Ammannaya appeared for the prosecution.
