Zakir Naik and his Islamic Foundation organisation has been banned in India
The Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) of controversial Islamic speaker Zakir Naik has been banned for five years. The Union Home Ministry makes the decision. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Naik's speeches were a "embodiment of terrorism."
According to a Home Ministry directive, Zakir Naik followers may be found in nine states. Zakir Naik has supporters in Kerala, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Odisha. Naik has also been accused of inciting riots and attempting to convert to Islam.
The action follows charges that cash were obtained from overseas for terrorist activity. The authorities has already taken action against Zakir Naik and the IRF.
