Deadly Mosque Attack in Peshawar, Pakistan Leaves 63 Dead

On January 30, 2023, a Taliban suicide bomber attacked a mosque in a high-security area of Peshawar, Pakistan, killing 63 people and injuring more than 100.

The attack took place during the afternoon prayers and most of those killed were police and security personnel. The attacker blew himself up in the front row of the mosque.

The brother of the slain tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander claimed that the attack was carried out in retaliation for his brother who was killed in Afghanistan last year.

The TTP, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, is responsible for previous suicide attacks in the country targeting security personnel.
